BALANCE is a high-end, low key hair salon owned by a brother and sister team. Khara Holmes Lyons, a color specialist, and David Holmes, an advanced cutting specialist opened the salon as a way of demonstrating a community development commitment in their neighborhood. The styling team wanted an avenue to communicate their dedication and express their new business excitement to their current and potential clients that would be cost effective and memorable. Finer Points Planning developed a grand opening celebration that knocked BALANCE to its feet!

What We Did
The salon emits a clean, classic and modernly Asian atmosphere. Finer Points wanted to express that feeling to the grand opening guests by boasting the unique and creative location the styling duo had constructed. From clever uses of the salon space and décor to designing inventive favor boxes, the guests enjoyed the comfort and personality of the unique neighborhood salon.

Finer Points developed, coordinated and executed the invitations, RSVP tracking, valet parking, floor plan, linens and table rentals, floral, decorations, favors, cocktails and marketing initiatives.

Among other details and logistics, Finer Points suggested the bartender use the utility sink to chill and serve wine and beer. The unique idea gave the salon more space for the guests and created a conversation topic for some. The "Welcome Table" invited guests to enter their business card for a "free cut and color" and to make comments in the salon guest book. Khara and David will keep the information to communicate regularly with their guests. A black, Chinese "to-go" box containing personalized BALANCE mints, shampoo samples, hair tips and chocolates went home with each of the guests to wrap up the evening as a simple, yet thoughtful gift.

The highly attended evening was a success for the new business owners.
The guests felt warm and comfortable as the new and intimate atmosphere of the salon became familiar. The new salon owners entertained their guests as the guests welcomed BALANCE to the neighborhood.
